Everyone wants more clients

Everyone wants to find more customers.

I know this because it’s the #1 question in the membership application.

People apply to the Freelance Business Community Hub looking for help with sales.

Some even say it outright:

“If you guarantee I’ll get clients, I’ll join.”

No kidding.

I don’t guarantee that. And I never will.

I don’t provide clients.

I don’t look for work for freelancers.

In fact, YOUR sales should not be MY concern.

There’s a psychological pattern at play when we step outside our comfort zone, especially into things we don’t know how to do. In this case - sales.

We default to passivity.

Someone should provide.

Someone should explain.

Someone should show me how.

Someone—just not me.

The real reason most freelancers fear sales not because sales are scary, but because they have no idea who they’re selling to or what they’re actually selling.

Before you even attempt to sell, if you ever do (yes, that was sarcasm), you must answer two embarrassingly basic questions:

  • Who are you selling to?
  • What exactly are you selling?

Most freelancers skip this part.Or they think they know, but in reality, it’s vague and blurry.

That’s why sales feel hard.

That’s why “finding clients” feels random.

What’s missing isn’t sales.
It’s marketing.
