I didn’t have a single day off this holiday.
Not cool. But I am not complaining.
The work to launch the
Freelance Business Academy and our first
Marketing Course exceeded all my expectations, both in time
and money invested.
Then I came across a post by an influencer saying you should spend
max 2–4 hours on a digital product.
I spent
months.
Am I mad?
Maybe.
But I don’t believe crap can fly (literally).
I believe communities deserve
high-quality products—reliable, honest, and built to last.
Just as I was about to open the Academy landing page for sign-ups, an external reviewer looked at it and said:
“I don’t see your
why anywhere. What is your
why?”
That question got stuck in my head.
What
is my bloody why?
(aka Simon Sinek yelling in my face)
- Why do I do what I do?
- Why don’t I do what I don’t do?
- Why do clients work with me?
- Why should they work with me?
- Why was the Academy worth investing in?
- Why would anyone care?
That night was a full-on
why-collapse.
No sleep. Just questions.
In the end, it came down to two things:
1. Quality2. ImpactQuality to stand out.
Impact to actually make a difference.
Now it is your turn: what’s
your why today?
It’s a coincidence that this arrived just as I was reviewing
answers from 30 freelancers to the following questions I was asking at some point:
- What is important to you as a self-employed person?
- What advice would you give other freelancers about where and how to find clients and assignments?
- What would you recommend to your younger self at the start of your freelance career?
- If you could ask an expert one thing, what would it be?
- What are you especially proud of, or why do clients like working with you (your success story)?
- Have you experienced a low point in your career, and how did you cope with it?
The answers to the first question will make you smile.
Take a look.
